How To Cook Perfect Bacon In Your Oven (No Mess!)

Many chefs agree that cooking bacon in an oven is a better cook method compared to frying bacon in a pan. Cooking bacon in the oven yields more uniform cooking and avoids messy grease splatters that come with pan frying. I usually use the oven for bacon when I am using cooked bacon as an ingredient in a meal. That way I can prepare the rest of the meal (burgers, spinach salad etc) while the bacon is cooking without having to watch over a frying pan.

Directions:
Preheat your oven to 425. For easy clean up, line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil or a silicone liner such as a Silpat Non-Stick Silicone Baking Liner, 11 5/8-Inch by 16 1/2-InchEvenly space your bacon pieces on the cookie sheet and cook for approximately 20 minutes depending on your desired crispiness. Remove the bacon to a plate lined with paper towel to drain. Be careful of the hot bacon grease when removing the cookie sheet from the oven.

  1. I, too, agree that cooking bacon in an oven is way better than frying it. Bacon can be a substantial source of cholesterol if prepared incorrectly. Using a stainless strainer to elevate the bacons from the surface of the pan will allow the grease to separate the bacons accordingly, leaving you a healthier food to eat.

  2. Actually, I get the same results out of the microwave..much quicker. I just take a plate, place 4 or 5 paper towels down, 5-6 strips of bacon, cover with 2 paper towels and cook on high for approx. 5 min. Perfect, evenly cooked bacon! BTW; I am saving your low carb recipes to try later. Thanks!

I have used the oven when I have a crowd to feed but usually it is just me so I also use the microwave oven for my bacon. Thank you for the recipes I have tried a few when I have had family or friends over but would love to see recipes that are small like one or even just two servings ..
