Low Carb Food Find: Siggi’s Yogurt – Icelandic Style Skyr

Missing your fruited Greek Yogurt?

This little gem got into my fridge pretty much by accident.  My husband did some grocery shopping at Super Target and bought it.

I don’t usually eat fruited yogurt.  It is usually quite high in sugars and/or has lots of funky ingredients.  However, Siggi’s Icelandic Yogurt (thick or even thicker then Greek yogurt) is pretty low in sugars and carbs and high in protein with nothing…I mean nothing funky added.  It is sweetened with just a hint of Agave nectar; a low glycemic sweetener.

Ingredients:  Skim milk, agave nectar, fruit.  THATS it…..  and live active cultures that are good for your digestive system.

It tasted really awesome.  I am not used to very sweet stuff and it had just a hint of sweetness.  Think high quality plain Greek yogurt with just a dollop of fruit added.  I really liked it.  It was super smooth.

Nutrition for 5.3 oz. of Siggi’s Acai & Mixed Berries:
Calories:  100
Fat: 0
Carbs:  11 g.
Protein: 14 g.

For comparison sake, here is the nutrition for 5.3 oz. of Liberte Greek Blackberry:
Calories:  130
Fat: 0
Carbs:  21 g.
Protein: 11 g.

So, the Siggi’s has about half the carbs of the Greek Yogurt and more protein.
