Unsweetened Almond Milk! It is low carb goodness!
Do you ever add something to your diet and wonder WHY you waited so long to try it? I was an “almond milk virgin” until a few weeks ago. Frankly, I never realized it was so low carb. I happen to take a look at some in the store and thought; how come I never tried this!!! I did and I loved it.
It will take your protein powder drink from meh…to YEAH! I like the taste of it. It tastes like milk, but with a very slight hint of nuttiness. Added to chocolate protein powder it is really good.
Let me break down the nutrition of Skim Milk vs. Silk Unsweetened Almond Milk:
Skim Milk (1 cup)
Carbs: 12 g.
Protein 8 g.
Almond Milk (1 cup)
Carbs: less than 1 gram
Fat: 2.5 g. (the fat helps satiate you / 0g. saturated)
Besides being low carb, Almond Milk contains a lot of nutrients. 1 cup of almond milk has 50% of your daily recommended vitamin E and vitamin B12 and 45% of your daily recommended calcium.
